- RICK FULTON

MARRY ME JENNIFER Lopez and Owen Wilson star in this frothy and instantly disposable romantic comedy.

Shortly before Latin pop diva Kat (Lopez) marries Grammy-winning boyfriend Bastian (Maluma) on stage in front of a livestreamed global audience, she views leaked video footage of Bastian kissing her assistant.

Humiliated on the happiest day of her life, Kat stares into the concert crowd and her tearful gaze settles on strait-laced mathematics teacher Charlie (Wilson).

He is standing with daughter Lou (Chloe Coleman) and co-worker Parker (Sarah Silverman), holding a handmade sign that reads “Marry Me”.

Impulsively, Kat accepts Charlie’s unintended proposal and one of her dancers officiates for the union.

Off stage, Kat’s manager Collin (John Bradley) performs damage limitation.

Meanwhile, Kat persuades Charlie to embrace her “manic response to an insane situation” and continue their relationship.

As lead actress and producer, Lopez turns up her star wattage to 11 to kindle appealing on-screen chemistry with Wilson.

With Instagram filters added to characters and scenes this is trying to be Notting Hill for the digital age.

Available digitally from Monday, also from May 16 on DVD at £19.99.
