ALISON Steadman, Katherine Parkinson, Jim Howick and Tom Basden star in this refreshingly funny comedy about the Jessop family, as filmed by youngest son Sam for his media studies project.
Rachel (Parkinson) is having a rather disappointing birthday so far. She’s received a bunion corrector from her mother-in-law Sue (Steadman, always excellent in this type of role) and a teeth whitening kit from her brother Robin (Basden).
But husband Paul (Howick) surprises her with a Wowcher voucher to Jungle World adventure park. They have six months to use it.
Cut to exactly six months later and the family have a race against the clock to get to the park before it closes and the voucher expires.
The comedy comes from the resulting chaos. Sue brings her neighbour’s dog Lord Sugar, which bolts off its lead and gets lost.
Paul hasn’t got a job so becomes obsessed with gardening, while daughter Amy has her own romantic dramas. Character-led comedy that will likely improve with age.
