I’ve Scott know-how to get an Ibrox win

- BY SCOTT BURNS

SCOTT McMANN would love to claim a hat-trick of Ibrox wins to help Dundee United claim a Europa Conference League spot.

The defender has previously had two big wins away to Rangers playing for Hamilton.

McMann was part of the Accies team who beat Rangers 2-0 in 2017 then Brian Rice’s side who dumped the Light Blues in 2020, as they safeguarded their top-flight skin.

He said: “It’s hard to win at Ibrox but I’ve done it twice. I’ve had a couple of good experiences there in the past. The first one was when David Templeton and Darren Lyon scored and we won 2-0 in 2017.

“The last one win was under Chipper just before football shut down in March 2020.

“We were second bottom and beat Rangers at Ibrox then Kilmarnock at home then the league got scrapped – so those results kept us up.

“But Rangers have rarely lost at Ibrox since and they are a brilliant side so we know it’s going to be a difficult game.

“I’ve got good memories from playing at Ibrox. It’s a great place to play and we take confidence from last Saturday. Hopefully we can play well again.”

McMann knows United will need to be on the money because he has also seen the other side where his team has been put to the Ibrox sword when Accies lost 8-0.

McMann added: “I’ve had a few scuddings at Ibrox as well. There was the game that finished 8-0 and that wasn’t a great experience.

“It happens to a lot of teams at Ibrox. When they’re playing well there’s not a lot you can do.

“We were going through a tough spell at that time but it makes you appreciate the wins even more.”
