JASON AFTER EVERYMINUTE OFLIVIACTION

- BY DARREN JOHNSTONE

LIVINGSTON midfielder Jason Holt insists there is no secret formula as he closes in on playing every single minute in the Premiership this season.

Holt was not even aware he was on course to achieve that feat until his team-mates recently mentioned it.

The former Rangers and Hearts playmaker has not missed a second of action from all of the Lions’ 36 games – which equates to some 3240 minutes – so far this term.

He is hoping to continue that remarkable run for the final two games against St Mirren tonight and Dundee on Sunday.

The playmaker has also featured in every single game across all competitions bar one – the opening match of the campaign against Brechin in the Premier Sports Cup.

Holt said: “I’ve played every minute of every league game. There is me and Jack Fitzwater, he has started every single game, including cups as well.

“We’ll see what the next couple of games bring.

“It’s not something I’ve really thought about.

“It’s been good for me in that I’ve not really picked up many injuries. That can hamper your game time.

“I’ve been just been cracking on and it’s not something I really thought about until the boys mentioned it last week with three games to go.

“Lets see what these two games bring.”

Now 29, Holt reckons experience has taught him to look after himself.

He added: “Training properly and living your life correctly away from the place, it plays a massive part in what you do, doing the right things. It’s nothing complicated, it’s pretty simple. I try to look after my body.”

Livi were gutted to lose out on the top six when they conceded an agonising equaliser to Motherwell in injury-time last month.

But with seventh place within their grasp ahead of tonight’s clash at St Mirren, Holt admits they cannot be too hard on themselves.

He added: “Overall there are a lot of positives and we want to finish seventh.”

Boss David Martindale is convinced he has recruited a Premiership-ready player after Hearts defender Jamie Brandon signed a pre-contract agreement with Livi.

The 24-year-old has penned a three-year deal with the Lions after spending the last six years at Tynecastle.

And Martindale said: “I am delighted to secure Jamie on a three-year contract. He has all the attributes to be a Premiership footballer.”
