Savvy savings

Chris Bavin returns for an

eighth series of Eat Well For Less?, but this time he’s joined by a new partner in his mission to cut the nation’s spending.

Jordan Banjo becomes the newest member of the team, taking over from show veteran Gregg Wallace.

Here, they chat about their partnership, reveal what they think is the main reason behind excess spending and open up about their own eating habits…

Hi, guys! So, Jordan, how has it been joining the show?

Jordan: I’m a big fan so when the call came in, I knew it’d be fun. However, I was also a bit nervous because people love this show and I wanted to be prepared. Chris: Jordan told me he felt he had some big shoes to fill but luckily he’s got big feet. [Laughs] He took to it like a duck to water. You’re replacing Gregg. Did you contact him for advice? Jordan: In a weird way, I didn’t need to. I’m a busy dad myself so I understand that side of things from a personal perspective and Chris was there to guide me through anything I was unsure about. For some reason, I find Gregg a bit scary. He put a lovely message out to both of us, though, which was nice to see. How’s it been for you, Chris? Chris: I’ve worked with Gregg for a long time and we’re still great friends. Having said that, Jordan brought a breath of fresh air to the show. He’s younger, taller, has a better barnet. We can actually talk about hair products, which is great. Were there any trends cropping up this series?

Chris: It’s always convenience. When people have a challenge, food manufacturers find ways to make you part with your money for the solutions. What continues to surprise me is how small, sustainable changes can save you hundreds of pounds a year. Do you have food weaknesses?

Jordan: During lockdown I developed what my fiancée calls Corona Curves. I’d sit in front of the telly and bang out a couple of tins of Pringles. They’re just so moreish. Chris: I’ve never met a biscuit I don’t like. It’s just all about moderation. No nutritionist I’ve ever spoken to has said

you can’t eat any of that stuff.
