Teen killer had called for London mayor Sadiq Khan’s death
GRIEVING families of Payton Gendron’s victims yesterday told of their devastation after the white supremacist’s rampage left 10 people dead.
The twisted 18-year-old launched his massacre after calling for London mayor Sadiq Khan to be slaughtered and published a 180-page hate-filled manifesto.
Two people were also injured and 11 of those he shot were black.
He also mentioned a number of UK towns and court cases, including the Asian grooming gang trial in Rotherham.
Gendron live-streamed the bloodbath as he tore through the Tops Friendly supermarket in Buffalo, New York State, on Saturday. He had scrawled the N-word on his rifle.
As the first of the victims were named last night, it emerged police were alerted to him last year after he threatened to shoot fellow students.
Dozens of locals yesterday attended the scene of the massacre, America’s worst this year.
Devania Summerlin, 24, said: “To be killed in the 21st century for the colour of their skin shows how little this world has come.
“Such killings are modern-day lynchings. When is this ever going to stop?”
In Gendron’s manifesto, under “Kill high profile enemies”, he wrote: “Sadiq Khan, The current mayor of London at the time of writing, an open sign of the disenfranchisement and ethnic of the British in the British isles.
“This Pakistani Muslim invader now sits as representative for the people of London.
“What better sign of the white rebirth than the removal of this invader?”
Khan said last night: “Our diversity is our strength. Hate will never win.” Gendron launched the attack after driving 200 miles from his parents’ home in Conklin, New York.
Wearing military-grade body armour with a video camera fixed to his helmet, he was armed with weapons before opening fire around 2.30pm.
He killed three people in the car park. Gendron’s first victim was security guard Aaron Salter, who bravely tried to stop him. The former police officer fired multiple shots but they did not pierce his armour.
Police finally confronted Gendron. At one point, he put his gun to his neck but officers were able to talk him into surrendering.
Gendron is claimed to have broadcast his attack on Twitch, the live streaming site owned by Amazon. Twitch said it had taken the channel offline within two minutes of the violence starting.
The FBI called the killings both a hate crime and racially motivated violent extremism.
The teenager publicly held racist and Nazi views and was known to police.
President Joe Biden said there was no harbour for “hate-filled domestic terrorism”.
