Scots spy Runar can be brother in harms

- BY SCOTT BURNS

FRANKFURT ace Jens Petter Hauge has turned to his brother for the inside track on how to ruin Rangers’ Europa League dream.

The Norwegian international’s sibling is the Hibs winger Runar Hauge.

Hauge senior already knows a bit about the Ibrox club but is hoping Runar’s local knowledge can help give the Germans a vital advantage going into Wednesday’s final in Seville.

He said: “Rune said they are a strong team with a lot of fighters. They also have amazing fans and we know it will be a tough game with a lot of emotions.”

The Hibs youngster will be heading over to Spain with the rest of the Hauge family to cheer on Jens Petter and Frankfurt.

The on-loan AC Milan player, 22, admitted it would be a dream come true to win the Europa League and to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

He said: “My brother is also coming over to the final with my family and friends.

“Winning would mean we would also be playing in the Champions League next season. That’s always been one of my goals in football.

“That would be one part of the success and the other would be to win a European trophy. There aren’t many of them who pick up a major medal like this when they finish their careers. It would be amazing.”

Hauge hopes getting to a major European final will inspire his brother Runar, 20, to unlock his unquestionable talent at Easter Road.

He said: “I hope he will take this as a big motivation. He has a lot of potential and he just needs to get the confidence and the trust from a coach that believes in him.”
