3 months to use old notes

THERE are 100 days left to spend paper Bank of England £20 and £50 notes.

September 30 is the last day they’ll be legal tender after being replaced by tougher polymer versions.

The bank is urging people to use them or deposit them in their account before then.

More than £6billion of paper £20s and £8billion of £50s remain in circulation.

Bank of England’s chief cashier Sarah John said: “Check if you have any at home.”
