TASKMASTER: CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS 2022 Channel 4, 9pm

-

YOU can never have too much Taskmaster in your life. It’s child’s play for adults, with absurd, pointless challenges that you’ll want to try at home.

In this special episode, the series six to 10 winners return to the scene of the greatest triumph of their lives. Taskmaster Greg Davies says: “They will come together to determine who is the person motivated enough to take home the most hollow of prizes. The tasks have no real-world application.

“Who will delude themselves into thinking any of this matters?”

Expectations will be sky-high as he watches Ed Gamble destroying a bath toy, Kerry Godliman rolling a bobbin, Liza Tarbuck avoiding low-flying bananas, Lou Sanders painting on skates and Richard Herring revealing his bare feet. And they’ve all made an effort – special mention to Ed’s bow tie and Kerry’s pinny.

It’s straight into it as the contestants must look the most like a champion in the opening titles by doing five heroic things in five seconds.

Then they must bring in the thing that makes everyone say: “Wow, that really is the greatest thing.” Offerings range from a flying Taskmaster bust to a heart in a jar. Other ridiculous tasks include trying to feed themselves a grape in the most elaborate way, a piece of holey art with the potential to be rude, plus a fiendish challenge involving a rubber duck and a mission.

As always, all tasks are adjudicated by the PA of PAs, Little Alex Horne.
