SCOTLAND’S topperforming state secondary schools have been named in the latest league table.

The Times Scotland’s 2022 High School League Table calculates the percentage of pupils that achieved the Scottish Government’s so-called “gold standard” of five Highers in 2021.

And it was Jordanhill School in Glasgow that was named the best performing school for a sixth year in a row – with 91 per cent of pupils hitting the standard.

Caroline Mutter said: “I detest this type of ranking. My son’s former school would present any pupil for Highers or Nat 5s if they wanted to go for it. They didn’t care about league tables, they cared about giving everyone a chance.”

Derek Bruce added: “These are pointless. Purely so middle-class parents can protect property values.”

Saran Louisa Carmichael wrote: “My school was ‘the best’ when I was there, yet rife with bullying. I was clever but never went in because it was so horrible.”
