BUTTLER IS JOS A STAND IN SKIPPER
JOS BUTTLER is not looking to take over from Eoin Morgan as England white-ball skipper after steering them to a 3-0 series win over the Netherlands in his absence.
England’s star batsman and heir to the armband took over from injured Morgan but after an eight-wicket stroll, Buttler (86no) said: “There’s certainly no questioning of his position from within the camp. I can’t put into words what he’s achieved.”
SWIMMING: Tom Dean failed to add to his freestyle bronze in the 200m individual medley final at the world championships, coming fifth.
With pre-race favourite Duncan Scott absent, France’s Leon Marchand was able to grab gold in 1:55.22. But Olympic 200m freestyle gold medalist Dean set a personal best of 1:56.77.
ICE HOCKEY: Glasgow Clan have brought Canadian defenceman and former Fife Flyer Colton Waltz back to the club for his first full season.
