ROSS TO PUT POOR TERM BEHIND HIM

-

ROSS THOMPSON aims to finish a tricky second season in professional rugby on a high by capturing the Scotland No.10 jersey during the national team’s summer tour of South America.

The playmaker was a breakthrough star in 2021-22 but has struggled to maintain that form as part of a Glasgow Warriors team which lost its way towards the end of the 2022-23 campaign. The Scotstoun outfit suffered six defeats during their final eight matches of the season, with a 76-14 drubbing by Leinster in the URC playoffs ultimately costing Danny Wilson his job as head coach. Despite the team’s shoddy form, Thompson was one of 14 Warriors named in Gregor Townsend’s summer tour squad.

And the 23-year-old said: “It has been an up-and-down season.

“I didn’t perform as well as I could have at the end of the season so I am lucky to have this opportunity to make amends for that.

“All I want to do is try to get some good rugby in.”
