BARCA DON’T HAVE SILVER TO GET SILVA
MANCHESTER CITY have been warned Barcelona are making false promises over Bernardo Silva.
The Catalans want Silva as part of an ambitious drive that has also seen them target Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski, Sevilla stopper Jules Kounde and Leeds forward Raphinha this summer.
But former Barca board member Toni Freixa called out his old club earlier this week in a caustic tweet claiming financial pressures will make those transfers impossible.
And he went even further yesterday, telling Spanish radio that the La Liga club are making things up as they go along when it comes to Silva and Co.
Freixa said: “I don’t buy the talk of Barcelona’s signings. They are blatantly selling smoke!
“What they say clashes with reality and I have no choice but to warn people that this is not going to happen.
“It sells much more to say that Bernardo Silva is coming. If we want to sell the bike, let’s sell it, I don’t buy it.”
Barcelona are right up against La Liga’s strict Financial Fair Play rules and need to raise funds before they can make any signings. Fraixa had earlier tweeted: “You know that Lewandowski, Kounde, Raphinha, and Bernardo Silva will not come? You know that, don’t you?”
