4m tune in to watch Macca rock Glasto

- BY KERRI-ANN ROPER

ALMOST four million people tuned in to watch Sir Paul McCartney’s history-making headline set at Glastonbury.

Macca, 80, became the festival’s oldest solo headliner and snagged a peak audience of 3.9million on BBC1.

A spokesman for the festival said Sir Paul’s Saturday set attracted “one of the biggest crowds we’ve ever had”.

The ex-Beatle was joined by Dave Grohl, 53, and Bruce Springsteen, 72, at one point in the set.

Sir Paul also sang a “virtual” duet with former bandmate John Lennon, who was killed in 1980.

Diana Ross also proved age is no barrier to talent, reeling off hits including I’m Coming Out to fans yesterday, at the age of 78.
