BARCELONA is the latest area of Spain to set new rules that make tourism less disruptive to locals.

The city’s authorities have released new controls to minimise nuisance to the locals which will mostly affect guided tours.

Megaphones will no longer be allowed, meaning guides will need to use audio equipment or speak at a normal volume.

Group leaders must plan walking routes that “minimise inconvenience” and tour groups must be limited to 30 – reduced to 15 in smaller areas.

The move comes after a “six drinks a day” rule was brought in for all-inclusive holidays at some resorts, meaning Brits need to pay extra for more drinks.

On our Facebook page,

Kristofer Cameron said: “That’s why 80 per cent of tourists go to Spain – for the sun, sea and sangria.”

Diane McFarlane added: “Tourism won’t stop. People from other countries will find Spain more appealing if there’s less Brits there.”

Sean Findlay added: “Turkey anyone?”

Jan Linnér said: “Well, good luck with that.”
