ROSSSTILLON GERS’ RADAR

-

sporting director has the new Scotland frontman on his radar.

Now the Stadium of Light side want to table a further improvement and a contract extension to last season’s 26-goal top scorer.

The club plan to kick talks off when the former Ross County player comes back from his summer break in the coming days.

Stewart is among a number of striking options Wilson is looking at.

PAOK hitman Antonio Colak is another in the Ibrox side’s sights.

The Greek outfit are looking for around £2.5million for the Croat.

Rangers are seeking to replace Cedric Itten who has quit for Young Boys back in Switzerland.

But they are well aware they may have to find more frontline options if interest in Alfredo Morelos, who is now in the final year of his contract, comes to fruition.

Some of the Colombian striker’s new representatives are mainly based in Spain and the 26-year-old has recently been linked with La Liga outfit Seville.

If Morelos is sold, however, it would give Rangers more financial muscle when it comes to trying to lure Stewart and others to Ibrox.

Stewart, who made his Scotland debut earlier this month, has already been flagged up by Rangers’ scouting department and has now been taken on by Wilson and manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

He was instrumental in helping Sunderland win promotion through the play-offs and scored one of the goals at Wembley that saw them beat Wycombe.

Stewart is on the radar of a number of English

clubs, including Premier League outfits Brighton and Brentford as well as Norwich and Swansea.

Sunderland boss Alex Neil sees the striker as a massive part of his plans and wants him signed up to the Stadium of Light for the long-term.

The Black Cats are also aware of growing interest in the 25-year-old as he goes into the final year of his contract.

Rangers know that there could be interest in a number of their own top stars, such as Calvin Bassey, Ryan Kent and Joe Aribo, after their run to the Europa League Final.

Aston Villa are keen on Bassey while Aribo has caught the eye of both Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest.

Derby midfielder Tom Lawrence has been linked with Rangers but the club have played down those reports.
