It Sher was a thrilling ride...

-

SHERWOOD BBC1, 9pm THIS chilling and clever series has been following two grisly killings, several deadly arrows flying around Nottinghamshire, and the troubled past of a former mining community.

With one foot firmly in the past, last night’s flashback episode to scenes from 1984 explained more about how relationships were fractured.

In particular, it is now clear what has gone on between Nottinghamshire cop Ian (David Morrissey) and his Met counterpart Kevin (Robert Glenister).

And did you spot that Kevin’s younger self was played by Glenister’s son Tom?

In the present day, Andy (Adeel Akhtar) ended up dead in a field after being chased by armed police, and the Sparrows were traumatised when an arrow flew into their front door.

In tonight’s gripping finale, the Sparrows ponder which of them could be the intended target – it could be any of them, to be honest.

With the crime drama playing as a whydunit rather than a whodunit, the puzzle at hand is the former spy cop still living in Ashfield under an assumed identity.

Ian is more determined than ever to find the spy cop, coming to blows with his wife Helen (Clare Holman) after he suspected her.

Kevin bumps into Jenny again and the memories quickly come flooding back.

A massive team of armed police are still trawling through the forest looking for Scott (Adam Hugill), who is still being a bit trigger happy with his arrows.

A community meeting brings bubbling tensions to the fore, and the whole saga is brought to a powerful conclusion.
