Comedy legend Johnny left estate of £700,000
ACTOR and comedian Johnny Beattie left a £700,000 fortune when he died, it has emerged.
The entertainer passed away aged 83 in July 2020.
He had a seven-decade career with TV and film roles, theatre, stand-up, and panto performances.
His most recent role was as OAP Malcolm Hamilton in BBC soap River City.
Legal documents have now revealed he had an estate of £672,450.86 which was left to his children.
He instructed further legacies of £3000 each to be given to two friends.
Papers show his Glasgow home was valued at £295,000 while a garage attached to the property was worth £20,000.
He also held a share of a property in his beloved Rothesay on the Isle of Bute where he performed at the town’s pavilion.
The rest was held in bank accounts, insurance policies and investments.
Beattie began his entertainment career in the 1950s while working in Govan’s Fairfield shipyard.
He was awarded an MBE in 2007 for lifelong services to entertainment and charity.
