Bojan is so good he’ll be Miovski to the EPL one day
New Don’s old MTK boss says strike ace is going places at Reds
BOJAN MIOVSKI’S old boss reckons the Aberdeen new boy is good enough to play in the Premier League.
Giovanni Costantino coached North Macedonia star Miovski and fellow Pittodrie summer signing Ylber Ramadani at MTK Budapest last season. The Dons decided to go big with a £535,000 bid for 23-year-old striker Miovski, who joined Jim Goodwin’s squad at their training base in Spain this week. Costantino believes it will be money well spent and they will more than recoup that – because he has all the tools to go to the top in England. He said: “Bojan has great potential and he can go on. “I believe that after a few years at Aberdeen he has the potential to even go to the Premier League. I genuinely believe he can because he is good enough technically, he has the mentality and is strong enough physically.
“Bojan also has great pace, he is brilliant in and around the box, and will score goals.
“I know Scottish football tends to be more physical but that won’t be an issue for Bojan at all. He is very strong and he is quick. “He is left-footed but he is also the ideal player for the team because he will do whatever the coach asks, whether he has to link up, to go over the top or play in wide.”
The Italian coach, who left MTK Budapest in October, got the best out of Miovski at the start of the season and saw him win his first call-up.
Costantino said: “The season before I came to the club, Bojan did OK but had Covid problems and that impacted him.
“Last summer he had an offer from Rapid Vienna but he wanted to stay at MTK and improve. I came in and he did amazingly – six goals in seven games.
“I relied a lot on him because he was a very big player for us. He got his first call-up for North Macedonia when he was at MTK, which was great for him and the club.”
The former Hungary assistant manager also revealed that he, along with Albania’s No. 2 Sergio Porrini, played his part in convincing Ramadani to move to the Granite City.
The midfielder hasn’t joined up with his new club yet but is expected to travel to Scotland in the coming days after his travel documentation is in place.
Costantino said: “I know Ylber will be a good signing for Aberdeen. I know there was interest in Ylber in the winter transfer window but the club didn’t want to sell him because they were fighting relegation.
“I spoke with Ylber a month ago and he told me he had interest from Hungary and Aberdeen.
“I told him he should go to Aberdeen and thankfully they managed to agree a fee.”
Costantino signed Ramadani from Danish side Vejle BK last summer. The Italian admits he was a big player, on and off the park, and reckons that will be the case at Pittodrie. He added: “I convinced him to sign for MTK because I know the Albania coach Edoardo Reja well and that helped me. “But Ylber is a fantastic guy and a real worker. “Fans will love him, especially in British football, because he’s a real fighter.”
