We need to be a 24-hour Euro city

-

TRNSMT boss Geoff Ellis has called for 24-hour public transport after thousands of fans had to walk miles to get home from TRNSMT.

The concert promoter claims Glasgow is trailing behind other European cities and losing out on a thriving night-time economy.

His comments come as services have been cut drastically due to staff shortages and industrial action. He said: “It’s a challenge for people doing anything, not just coming to TRNSMT.

“There’s an ongoing dispute at the moment but even when that is resolved. we should be pushing for later trains and later buses.

“For me, getting back to the way the schedules were before is not ambitious enough.

“Let’s build up a 24-hour economy.

“Let’s be like other European cities where undergrounds run all night, there are later

APPEAL Boss Geoff Ellis trains and night buses. That’s what I want to see for the night-time economy.”

He added: “I’m a big fan of 24-hour cities. I’ve seen them operate. They work in Europe and elsewhere.

“The council have probably seen it operating in other cities like Leeds and Manchester and can see the benefits.”

Ellis also revealed he is already in talks with acts he hopes will play TRNSMT in 2023.

Presale tickets for TRNSMT go on sale this week. Check tomorrow’s Daily Record for details.
