A STROKE victim is too scared to leave his own home after being attacked in the street.

Alan Roy was returning from a shopping trip on Tuesday when he was battered and left bleeding on the pavement. The 51-year-old suffered serious facial injuries. Now Alan, who had to retire from his job as a railway worker after his stroke, is too afraid to leave his home in Glasgow’s Milton. Police confirmed that a 51-year-old man has been arrested. Alan said: “I’m still a bit sore but I could be a lot worse. I was getting my things from Lidl and was on my way home.

“The guy just started some verbals. I remember a flurry of punches that landed.

“He gave me a cauliflower ear and I fell back, my head hit the tarmac and I was knocked out, then I got set upon.

“I know that because of the CCTV footage, I didn’t really know too much about it.

“There was a rain of blows for a minute or so.

“One side of my face was on the road, one wasn’t, so one side got it. They rushed me to hospital and did a CT scan.

“I think that I’ve got four fractures on my face and the only thing I remember is him saying, ‘Have you had enough?’.

He added: “My stroke was caused by a blood clot. My stroke leg is now about half the strength again, I have a severe limp and fall all over the place.

“My face is sticking away out a mile.

“I could actually see it in a shadow if I turned around and looked at the ground. I don’t want to go out any more.

“There was a big pool of blood outside the house and my milk was all spilt.

“The police camped outside his house and waited for hours to get him when he came back from work.”

The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service confirmed that the man accused of the attack appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

He made no plea and was released on bail as prosecutors investigate further.
