TRIBUTES have been paid to former Partick Thistle midfielder Adam Strachan after he was found dead aged 35.

Adam, from Maryhill in Glasgow, started his senior career at Firhill in 2004, aged 16. He went on to play for Albion Rovers, Clyde, Arbroath, Ross County, and Clydebank.

The circumstances of his death on Saturday are not yet known.

While he was at Ross County in 2009, he was charged with assaulting his girlfriend, before being imprisoned for carrying a knife in 2012 . The following year, he was caught in possession of £2000 worth of heroin.

After being released from prison in 2013, Adam went on to represent Glenafton Athletic, BSC Glasgow and East Kilbride.

Scottish Premiership side Ross County led the tributes to their former midfielder.

A statement said: “Ross County are sad to learn of the passing of former player Adam Strachan.

“Adam spent two seasons in Dingwall making over 50 appearances.

Our thoughts are with Adam’s family, friends and loved ones at this time.”

Clydebank FC wrote: “All at Clydebank FC are saddened to learn that former Bankie Adam Strachan has passed away, aged just 35. A hugely talented player who scored 11 goals in 28 appearances over two spells with us.

“Our condolences are with Adam’s friends, family and ex-teammates.”

A friend of Adam said: “Rest in peace Adam Strachan. I’ll never forget you mate. You made me laugh, cry and just enjoy life. You weren’t an angel but God so many people loved you and will never forget you mate. I mean that. Rest easy tripod.”

In an interview in 2016, Adam said he wished he could turn back the clock. He said: “If I was looking at it, as the public I’d think the same about the guy in the pictures.

“I’m not sitting here saying I’m really Mr Nice Guy because I’m not.

“I’ve a wee girl now and that makes life harder when you make those mistakes.”
