Law out to enjoy his first Open

- BY CRAIG SWAN

DAVID LAW will chill out and allow adrenaline to power his debut Open.

The Aberderdonian, 31, saved his best round of the Renaissance week to last with a final-day 69 to gear up for St Andrews.

Law, who booked his ticket to the 150th Championship in Ireland eight days ago, knows it’ll be mentally and physically challenging. He said: “I’ll certainly be ready for a week off when The Open is over, but the adrenaline of this will definitely get me through.

“I’ll have a day off on Monday. I’ll mosey down in the afternoon and then play 18 with Paul [Lawrie] on Tuesday. Then I’ll take it easy on Wednesday.

“It’s not going to be about playing every day. We’re there to enjoy it and take it all in, but, first and foremost, we are there to do a job and compete in the tournament.

“This week in itself was a positive one. You are always going to have a bit of mental fatigue and come down after last week.

“Saturday was a reasonable last day, but I just didn’t quite have it and it was disappointing finish-wise, but Sunday was solid.”
