IT’S HIGH FIVE FOR FRANCE
FRANCE ran riot against Italy in their women’s Euro 2022 Group D clash, scoring five times in the first half before running out 5-1 winners.
Grace Geyoro was the star performer for France, scoring a firsthalf hat-trick.
Marie-Antoinette Katoto and Delphone Cascarino also got on the scoresheet while Martina Piemonte grabbed a consolation for Italy.
Reading ace Justine Vanhaevermaet, meanwhile, kept her cool to sink a penalty equaliser for Belgium in a tense 1-1 draw with Iceland in their Group D fixture.
Berglind Thorvaldsdottir’s secondhalf header had put Iceland on course for victory but Vanhaevermaet’s spotkick, after Gunnhildur Jonsdottir’s foul on Elena Dhont, ensured the sides ended level in what was the first match of the tournament for both.
