Black Cats blackout refunds

RANGERS ......... 0 SUNDERLAND..1

- GAME ABANDONED DUE TO FLOODLIGHT FAILURE BY MICHAEL GANNON

THERE will be refunds for the punters who shelled out for tickets in the Algarve or stumped up to tune in online for the scuppered Sunderland clash on Saturday.

But Rangers boss Gio van Bronckhorst will be confident he won’t need to keep hold of the receipts for his new recruits this summer.

Forget about the Black Cats bounce game. By the time the real stuff gets underway the night Gers played at the Stadium of No Light in Portugal will become a wacky preseason tale.

Van Bronckhorst is now getting his new signings up to speed and seeing if he can keep hold of more of his main men.

He said: “Everyone has different levels of fitness right now but in the next week to 10 days I think we will have everyone fresh and fully fit to play.”

Van Bronckhorst was pleased with Antonio Colak’s weekend performance, saying: “It was the first time he’s played with his new teammates and I think he was strong up front. It’s good that he played for 45 minutes, although of course we wished we had played 90 minutes.”

John Souttar and Ryan Jack are still recovering from injuries but GVB says they are making progress.

He said: “John had to have some screws pulled out of his ankle.

“It’s nothing serious. He will start this week in training and Ryan, of course, had an injury with his calf.

“We are managing his load but he will be training with the squad as well next week.”
