Matondo closes in on Ibrox move
RANGERS are a step closer to snapping up Schalke speed merchant Rabbi Matondo after the wide man swerved the Bundesliga’s pre-season training camp in Austria.
The Wales international didn’t travel with the German side yesterday as he prepares to head to Glasgow to thrash out terms on a move to Ibrox.
Record Sport understands
Matondo, 21, is one of several targets for Gers boss Gio van Bronckhorst but both parties are keen to do a deal within the next few days.
Personal terms have yet to be agreed and talks are continuing with Schalke – with a fee of around £2.5million believed to be enough to get the signing over the line.
Van Bronckhorst is ramping up his recruitment drive following the arrival of Antonio Colak and Tom Lawrence last week, on the back of John Souttar completing his switch from Hearts.
The Ibrox club face a fight to land Angers attacking midfielder Angelo Fulgini. The 25year-old is being chased by Bundesliga outfit Mainz, with Rangers already seeing two bids knocked back. Angers are thought to be wanting up to £6m for the playmaker.
Van Bronckhorst admitted: “We have several players we are watching.”
