HOUSE of Cards actor Kevin Spacey pled not guilty yesterday to sex charges dating back 17 years.

The double Oscar winner denied four charges of sexual assault and one count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent.

Spacey, 62, is due to stand trial next summer over the allegations relating to three men, who are now in their 30s and 40s.

Wearing a blue suit and matching tie with pink polka dots, he glanced at the public gallery and grinned at the Old Bailey before confirming his details, appearing under his full name of Kevin Spacey Fowler.

The alleged offences are said to have taken place in London and Gloucestershire between 2005 and 2013 when Spacey was artistic director of The Old Vic theatre in south London.

Mr Justice Wall set a trial length of three to four weeks from June 6 next year. A further hearing will take place earlier in 2023 – with Spacey continuing on unconditional bail.

The case will be heard at the Old Bailey or at Southwark Crown Court.

The Se7en actor, who has homes at Waterloo in south London and in the US, thanked the judge at the conclusion of the 15-minute hearing.

Last month, at an initial court hearing held at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, Patrick Gibbs QC, lawyer for New Jersey-born Spacey, said his client “strenuously denies any and all criminality in this case”.

Mr Gibbs added that he had returned to the UK “to establish his innocence” and “to proceed with his life”.

Spacey won Academy Awards for the films American Beauty and The Usual Suspects.
