A SERIAL abuser who terrorised women and girls over three decades is due to be released from jail despite threatening to kill all his victims when he is freed.

Predatory Gary Millar, who was locked up for 14 years in 2014, will be allowed to walk free next month after serving only eight years for his horrific crimes.

Millar was convicted of 14 charges including indecency, rape, assault with intent to rape and assault following a trial.

Last night, one of his victims said she wanted to issue a warning to women to be vigilant now Millar, from Tranent, East Lothian, had been released.

She said: “This is a warning to all ladies out there.

“Gary Millar was sentenced to 14 years in prison in September 2014 when he was sentenced for historic abuse assault and many other horrific crimes.

“He is a serial predator and is due to be released in August.

“All his victims believed he was to serve the whole 14 years for his many, many crimes.

“The horrendous abuse I received at the hands of this man is truly unimaginable.

“This man threatened to kill all his victims when he is released but we are not allowed to know his whereabouts.

“Please don’t allow your daughter, sister, niece or friend to bring this beast into their lives.

“Share this far and wide so he has no chance to repeat his sadistic behaviour.”

Another woman who knows Millar said: “How people like him get out early is beyond me.

“Nobody has been told where he is going despite the fact he made threats to retaliate against his victims for speaking out.

“It’s absolutely disgusting these predators are so heavily protected by the law.

“We all felt like we’d got justice when he was jailed but now it doesn’t feel like justice at all.

“I know he has served over half his sentence but that’s not very long considering how many victims are involved and the seriousness of his crimes.

“We are all serving a life sentence.”

Two of Millar’s victims were aged only eight and 10 when he targeted them when he was still a teenager.

After he was jailed, one victim spoke out about the horrendous abuse she suffered during their two-year relationship.

She revealed that she had been subjected to violence and sexual abuse and was routinely beaten and forced to have sex with Millar. Five other women came forward to report to police how he had preyed on women and children since the 1980s.

Millar’s list of charges included holding knives to the throats of several victims and strangling a woman until she passed out.

He was also found guilty of smashing a woman’s head against a wardrobe and sexually abusing children aged eight and 10 between 1984 and 1990.

A prison source said Millar was due for release with conditions and would be subject to strict monitoring when he was released back into the community.

The source said: “Millar will have to comply with the conditions to be able to stay out of prison.

“If he breaks any conditions, which haven’t been set yet, he will find himself back inside.” Prisoners serving more than four years are considered by the Parole Board for early release halfway through their sentence.

If granted, they will be released on licence and can be recalled at any time.

Millar was sentenced before February 2016 which means he can be automatically released after serving two thirds of his sentence without being granted parole.

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Prison Service said they cannot discuss individual prisoners.
