Premiere. Emma Woodhouse (Anya Taylor-Joy) reassures her widower father (Bill Nighy) that she has no intention of contriving her own love match. However, Emma cannot resist interfering and she defies the warnings of neighbour Mr Knightley (Johnny Flynn) to mould the romantic prospects of naive new acquaintance Harriet Smith (Mia Goth). Emma is a spirited yet staunchly faithful treatment of Jane Austen’s 1815 novel. (2020) ****
REVOLUTIONARY ROAD BBC2, 11.15PM
Adapted from the acclaimed novel by Richard Yates, this chronicles the marriage of Frank (Leo DiCaprio) and April Wheeler (Kate Winslet). To outsiders, they have the perfect life but in reality have drifted apart and feel stifled by 1950s suburbia. Determined not to reach old age and wonder “what if?”, April convinces Frank they can make a fresh start in Paris... but the exciting plan soon becomes another bone of contention. (2008) ****
MISERY FILM4, 11.25PM
When author James Caan is involved in a car crash he is pulled from the wreckage by Kathy Bates who, it turns out, is his number one fan. But when she discovers Caan is planning to kill off his most famous creation, Misery Chastain, Bates reveals herself as a psychopath with a fondness for sledgehammers. Stephen King’s shocking thriller includes first-class performances from both stars – particularly the Oscar-winning Bates. (1990) *****

Premiere. Jamie Bell stars in this gritty drama, inspired by the true story of a real former white supremacist. Despite being a prominent figure among Neo-Nazis, Bryon “Pitbull” Widner sees the error of his ways. But when his home is targeted by his former associates – with his pregnant wife inside – Bryon fights back. But instead of using violence, finds a different path which helps him bring killers to justice. (2018) ****
WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE? BBC4, 9PM
Child actor “Baby” Jane Hudson was eclipsed by movie star sister Blanche. Until Blanche’s career was cut short when she was paralysed in a car accident. For decades, the siblings have lived in isolation, with Jane sliding into alcoholism. When Blanche decides it’s time to make changes, old rivalries resurface. With Bette Davis as deranged Baby Jane and Joan Crawford as Blanche. (1962) *****
