SUPER SURGEONS: A CHANCE AT LIFE
Channel 4, 10pm
TONIGHT, we meet more desperately ill patients hoping for a miracle as they visit the brilliant surgeons at London’s Royal Marsden Hospital.
Peter, who is 70, has been told to prepare for the worst as he battles an aggressive tumour growing on his tongue and mouth.
His surgeon, Professor Vin Paleri, thinks Peter might be a candidate for cutting-edge surgery which would involve using tissue from his leg to reconstruct his throat, saving his life in the process.
But it’s a complicated operation that carries huge risks, and Peter’s suitability must be assessed.
Meanwhile, Janet, 55, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer during the pandemic, and to make matters worse the cancer is located in a really tricky position for surgery.
It has wrapped itself around a crucial vein, meaning that experienced surgeon Mr Ricky Bhogal faces an extremely delicate and complex procedure if he is to give Janet any hope of survival.
