Brother in arms

LONG LOST FAMILY

-

STV, 9pm IT’S the last episode in the current series tonight, but Nicky Campbell and Davina McCall have a couple more tearjerkers left to share with us.

Tonight’s stories are all the more heart-breaking because the bereft mothers involved have passed away, so they never had the opportunity to meet the grown-up children they pined for all their lives.

Patricia’s baby was taken away from her against her will because she was deemed too young to raise him.

Andrew had a good life with a new family in Australia, and he proved difficult for Patricia to trace, so she contacted the programme.

When Long Lost Family told Andrew that Patricia was looking for him, his adopted father was seriously ill, and Andrew felt it would be disloyal to go searching for his birth mother.

Six years later, he finally decided it was the right time to reply to the researchers, but by then Patricia had sadly died – they had missed their moment to meet.

However, her children are still desperate to find their missing brother who they have heard so much about. Meanwhile, Julie knew from an early age that her mother, Joan, had given up a son when she was younger.

When Joan died, Julie promised her she would keep looking for him, and would tell him his birth mother had always loved him.

But the search has been fruitless, and Julie hopes that the LLF team might finally be able to offer her family the peace they have been searching for.
