CELTS DRAW COUNTY
CELTIC have been handed a tricky defence of the Premier Sports Cup after being sent to Dingwall in their first outing of this season’s competition, while Rangers will host Queen of the South.
Ange Postecoglou’s men take on Ross County in the last 16. And two more Premiership sides will be knocked out after Hearts were paired with Kilmarnock and Livingston pulled Dundee United in yesterday’s draw at Pittodrie after Aberdeen beat
Raith Rovers to win Group A. The Dons’ reward is a long trip to League Two shock troops Annan Athletic.
Aberdeen boss Jim Goodwin said: “The level of expectation will be on us because we’re the Premiership team going down there. There will be no pressure on Annan.
“I’ve got a lot of respect for Peter Murphy. I know him well and he has his team playing good football. They won their group and we won’t underestimate them. It’s a difficult tie.”
Premier Sports Cup last 16 – Rangers v Queen of the South, Partick Thistle v Arbroath, Livingston v Dundee United, Motherwell v Inverness CT, Dundee v Falkirk, Annan v Aberdeen, Hearts v Kilmarnock, Ross County v Celtic.
Ties will take place on the midweek of August 29/30.
