Dad, 36, dies just hours before family wedding

Partner fights in vain to save Greg after she finds him not breathing

- BY JON BRADY

THE partner of a dad who died at a Scots B&B hours before a family wedding has told how she fought valiantly to save him in his final moments.

Greg Davies, 36, died on Saturday morning at the Queensferry Guest House in Fife.

He had travelled to the town from Wales with partner Caitlin Turner, who is originally from the area, for her dad’s wedding on Saturday afternoon.

Caitlin, 27, told the Record she fought to save Greg’s life after she woke up to find he wasn’t breathing.

Paramedics were called to the house in a bid to save the dad-of-one but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

She said: “I was there for his last breaths trying to save him. I fought to save him.

“He was such a wonderful character and the life and soul of everywhere he went.

“You only ever saw him with a smile on his face.”

Greg had been a regular at the Queensferry Guest House, which he used while staying in the area working as a roofer.

Claire Kelly, who runs the B&B, said: “Greg was a great guy.

“The roofing company he worked for used the B&B for the majority of my guest house experience.

“They were all lovely guys who couldn’t do enough for anyone.

“His partner Caitlin met Greg while he was staying here working and they had moved to Wales.

“They’d come back to stay for a family wedding.

Sadly Greg didn’t wake up on Saturday morning.

“Everybody who knew him is gutted, he was a one-of-a-kind guy, the sort of guy who was everyone’s mate down the pub.

“Everyone here at Queensferry Guest House did everything they could that day and will offer ongoing support to the family.”

The death is being treated as unexplained by police, and it is understood that a post mortem will take place.
