Paw patrol is keeping Ramsay’s trophy safe

- BY JIM BLACK

RICHIE RAMSAY’S Cazoo Classic trophy has a special security guard to keep it safe – his daughter Olivia’s collection of cuddly toys.

Ramsay, who dedicated his victory at Hillside to the six-year-old, has been FaceTiming Olivia and her American-born mum Angela in the United States, where they’re on holiday.

And on the eve of the Hero Open at The Fairmont in St Andrews, the 39-yearold Aberdeen ace said: “They are seeing the extended family.

“Olivia has about 20 cuddly animals and I asked her if she wanted the animals to take care of the trophy until she gets back.

“It’s on her bed with the toys around it and she’s happy about that. She’ll get it when she comes home.”

Having ended a sevenyear wait to claim his fourth DP World Tour title last Sunday, Ramsay is now

planning to spend more quality time with his family.

But while he intends to savour his latest success, he has no intention of taking his foot off the pedal today.

Ramsay added: “I can go out and enjoy it now but I do love the pressure. It’s what drives you and it’s good having that always there.

“I’m hungry for more. Once you taste a bit of it, you want more and this sets me up well going into the second half of the season.

“The idea is to push on. When you’re playing well, why not try to get into contention this week and get into the mix?

“When I won in Crans-surSierre in 2012, I finished third the week after.

“My game was in a great position, my confidence was really high and my attitude was in the right spot.

“My game feels in a good position again and we’re in a lovely spot here next to St Andrews, so there is a bit of inspiration there.”
