Vinnie and the gang are on their, ahem, best form as comedy hit Brassic returns

-

Comedy drama Brassic is back for a new series as Vinnie O’Neil (Joe Gilgun) and his group of friends try to stay (just about) one step ahead of the law.

The gang – which includes Vinnie’s bestie Dylan (Damien Molony), Dylan’s ex Erin (Michelle Keegan), cuddly Cardi (Tom Hanson) and sex-mad Tommo (Ryan Sampson) – have had their share of bonkers moments and their fourth outing promises even more.

We caught up with Damien, 38, and Michelle, 35…

Hi, both! Each episode of Brassic seems to have more outrageous moments than the last. Do you ever wonder where else it can go?

Damien: Every time you open a Brassic script for the first time, it’s hugely exciting. And I think series four doesn’t disappoint. It’s life and death as always. There’s animals galore and there’s new terrifying baddies and, you know, the loveable idiots that we are, we get into far more trouble than we can handle. There’s cannibals, there’s greyhounds, there’s a cult in the woods… there’s a mobile erotic parlour. And I don’t think all that even scratches the surface.

In the last series, Erin left with her son, Tyler. Where do we find Erin now?

Michelle: She’s basically run away with Tyler. I think that was down to obviously what happened with Terence McCann. He got arrested at the end but I think she was more worried about her safety and the safety of Tyler. We do pick her up in the middle of Wales, in a caravan park. I think the gang and Vinnie have been looking for her for a while.

How is Erin’s relationship with Vinnie in this series?

Michelle: It’s always been, since series one, a will-they-won’t-they relationship. I do think there’s a lot of love there. But obviously there’s also been the Dylan storyline as well. Erin still loves Dylan, Dylan loves Vinnie, Vinnie loves Erin, Erin Loves Vinnie… everything’s just connected.

What is it like working with Joe Gilgun as Vinnie?

I think you feel like you are part of the gang when you watch the show Michelle Keegan

Michelle: He’s hilarious, from start to finish in the day. He’s very unpredictable. Like when he’s doing scenes, he riffs a lot of the time, which obviously makes everyone corpse [laugh], every single time he does it.

Brassic fans love the show for the gang’s friendships, don’t they?

Damien: At the core of the show is love and friendship. And I think that anyone who watches Brassic and loves it wants to be a part of that gang. Michelle: I think that’s really what makes the show so special. You love every single character that’s in the gang. And you want to be part of that gang – and you feel when you’re watching the show, like you are actuallly a part of that gang. So you laugh with them and cry with them.
