Romance is dead. I’d rather feel fear, not love
The Capital Breakfast radio show host, 35, on binge-watching Stranger Things until 4am and why she can’t stand romcoms
Hi, Sian! What’s your favourite thing to watch on TV at the moment?
Oh, my goodness, my latest obsession is the new Netlix documentary, The Most Hated Man On The Internet. It’s a bit like The Tinder Swindler – which I also loved – about a mum who goes on a one-woman-mission to shut down this awful man who has set up a website purposefully to name and shame people. She goes full-blown FBI to bring down the first ever online troll – such a mad story.
Do you have any TV guilty pleasures?
This is probably ever yone’s, but I just love Gogglebox. Sitting down and watching other people watching the telly – it’s just my happy time. And strangely enough, I’m loving watching The Savoy on ITV about the ins and outs of the hotel. Oh, and Keeping Up With The Kardashians – I hate how much I love that show.
Is there anything you can’t bear watching on the TV?
I’m never in the mood to watch a romcom. I’d honestly rather watch a horror series than sit and watch some lovey-dovey stuff. I tend to want to get something back when I’m watching telly – I either want to be shocked, or I want to learn – but romantic things don’t do anything for me. The only exception would be First Dates, and that’s only because of Fred.
Would you describe yourself as a “binge-watcher”?
Oh, absolutely. When I was watching the latest series of Stranger Things, I stayed up until 4am just to get it all done. I have no self-control, I always have to watch the next one. It’s such a treat being able to watch what you want over and over again.
I would love to do I’m A Celeb.. I want to be tested – give me a challenge.
Are there any television shows that you would love to appear on?
I’m a terrible dancer, but I always think to myself, ‘Could I learn one day on Strictly?’ And with I’m A Celebrity… I’d like to think of myself as a hands-on country girl, so I think I would get stuck in. I want to be tested – give me a challenge.
