Gulacsi: We must come on in Leips and bounds

- BY IAN ORR

PETER GULACSI says RB Leipzig must start plugging leaks if Celtic aren’t to blow a hole in their Champions League campaign.

The skipper admits he and his team-mates have been suffering from a crisis of confidence ahead of the Hoops visit to Germany on Wednesday.

The Bundesliga giants have been struggling both at home and in Europe.

They have lost both of their group games on the continent before facing Ange Postecoglou’s men and have won just two of their seven matches in the Bundesliga.

That horror run led to boss Domenico Tedesco getting the boot to be replaced by Marco Rose earlier this month.

Hungarian Gulacsi admits he’s never known anything like it in his career but accepts he’s part of the problem after the keeper shipped 23 goals in only 11 games this term.

Now the 32-year-old has demanded improvement ahead of crucial clashes with Bochum tomorrow afternoon and then Celtic in Group F.

He said: “I’m the first to look at myself and analyse my performance.

“I made a mistake against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League.

“Something like that has never happened to me in my career and hopefully won’t happen again.

“We have been conceding too many goals. If we don’t defend so well as a team, it’s not easy as a goalkeeper,

“The number of goals we have conceded is not good enough and we have been discussing that collectively.

“Ahead of our upcoming games we have to be much more consistent and stable defensively as a team.

“Now we have huge games ahead against Bochum and then Celtic and we have to improve.

“The recipe is simple. We want to work very hard and press high, then switch quickly and take our chances better than we have

done so far this season.”
