Death crash salesman dodges jail
A TRAVELLING salesman was yesterday spared jail for killing a mum while driving on the wrong side of the road.
David MacDonald, of Paisley, who drove for almost a quarter of a century without a full licence, said he believed he was on a dual carriageway.
The 43-year-old was ordered to do 300 hours of unpaid work and banned from the roads for six years.
He was appearing for sentencing at the High Court in Stirling after being found guilty by a jury of causing 45-year-old Leeanne Aitken’s death by careless driving in Livingston.
Judge Lord Lake also fined MacDonald £4500 for fraud after lying that he held a full licence in order to get insurance.
