Policeman cleared of sexual assault

- BY RECORD REPORTER

A POLICEMAN wept yesterday as he was cleared of sexually assaulting a woman whose daughter had earlier gone missing.

Dilexan Aloysious, 28, was accused of attacking the 42-year-old at her home in Ruchill, Glasgow, in September 2020.

He had returned the woman’s missing daughter before going back later, when he was accused of kissing and groping her. He denied sexual conduct, saying his return was as a “Good Samaritan” to help the woman report what he believed would be a domestic matter.

The jury found a charge of off-duty sexual assault not proven. A charge of on-duty sex assault was deleted by the prosecutor during the trial.
