A-TEEN WHEELER
Robbie becomes UK’s youngest HGV driver
A TEENAGER has become the UK’s youngest HGV driver.
Robbie Smith, 18, revealed he has had “funny looks” from people when he’s out behind the wheel.
He passed his test last week after only two days of training and said he couldn’t believe it when the examiner told him he was the youngest HGV driver in the country. Robbie, from Edinburgh, is delighted to be following in the footsteps of dad Duncan, 41, who is also an HGV driver.
The teen left school three years ago and joined family business Progressive Waste Solutions Ltd, which Duncan owns.
Robbie said: “I have had a couple of funny looks since I have been out... but everyone at work has been great and really supportive.
Duncan added: “I am extremely proud.”
