Jordan ready for away daze

- NEIL ROBERTSON

JORDAN McGHEE is banking on a winning road trip to Wales helping Dundee go the distance in the league with an away-day triple header.

The Dark Blues enjoyed a 3-0 romp over Welsh champs The New Saints in the SPFL Trust Trophy eight days ago.

Gary Bowyer’s side now face Hamilton today before travelling to Cove Rangers on Tuesday night then another trip to Gayfield to take on Arbroath a week today.

However, McGhee admits a hotel stay in Oswestry and the lengthy bus journey was great for team morale.

The 26-year-old said: “It was good to get away last week with the boys.

“It was a long journey down but the lads did well during the game and we carried ourselves well the full trip.

“We picked up a positive result and then had a few days off to recover. Now we are ready to go for Saturday.

“It’s a massive week for us and it all starts at Hamilton.

“We’ll just take each game as it comes. Hamilton will be a tough test as it is a notoriously difficult ground to go to but it is one we are looking forward to. It will be a good challenge for us.”

Versatile McGhee has been used in a variety of positions in defence and midfield this season by boss Bowyer.

The former Hearts and Falkirk player admits that can be challenging but he’s happy to play anywhere for the team.

McGhee added: “Every manager I have had knows I can do that, so it’s a pat on the back for me the manager trusts me to do a job in numerous positions.

“I am happy to help the team out and put the club first wherever I am asked to play.”

McGhee is simply enjoying being able to play without pain after a year spent in agony due to issues with both Achilles.

That problem was finally resolved this summer and he added: “I have come back and feel really fit. Everyone has been great with me and I feel really sharp. I just want to kick on, play as many games as I can and pick up points.”

Accies gaffer John Rankin has asked his side to prove they can bounce back after a 2-0 defeat before the break.

The club have drawn four of their first seven matches and Rankin said: “We know Dundee have come down from the Premiership and what they bring, so it’s a case of can we bounce back from the result we had two weeks ago against Queen’s Park.”
