Fan riots and knives cast doubt on Scots’ Turk trip

-

SCOTLAND’S clash with Turkey in Diyarbakır is in doubt after fans threw knives and chanted terrorist slogans there.

The last game of 2022 for the Scots is set for November in the Kurdish stronghold after tensions between separatists and government forces eased.

Turkish FA chief Mehmet Buyukeksi said the tie would be played there – but it could be moved after the riot during Amedspor’s 2-0 win over Bursaspor.

Fans chanted and flew banners in support of the PKK – Kurdistan Workers’ Party – labelled terrorists by the Turks and USA.

The ground has been hit with a two-game closure.
