- BY ALISON McCONNELL

CELTIC star Jacynta Galabadaarachchi reckons playing beside her best mate has meant double trouble for the rest of the women’s game.

The Hoops midfielder and Clarissa Larisey have a close bond – with the pair spearheading the Ghirls’ attack with 17 goals between them in the league so far this term.

And ahead of a Scottish Cup clash with Partick Thistle this weekend, Aussie Jacynta reckons her understanding with the 23-year-old Canadian has made her first year in Glasgow a breeze.

The 21-year-old, who is nominated for September’s SWPL Player of the Month, said: “We are very close. Our relationship off the pitch transfers on the pitch and there we have good chemistry.

“We’ve had a strong start and the style of play we play has been working well for us. I couldn’t have asked for a better start.

“The way we play as a team suits me because I get to be creative.

“We did well last season in both cups and want to do it again, it can bring a real energy to the team.

“The more Cups we win then the more we can bring that kind of energy into the team.”

Elsewhere, Rangers will look for a reaction following their Champions League defeat to Benfica when they take on Queen’s Park.

Glasgow City take on Aberdeen in their first game since Clare Shine retired while Hamilton take on Hibs, Hearts play Spartans, Kilmarnock tackle Gartcairn and Motherwell face Dundee United. Stirling University and Glasgow Women clash in the other tie.
