The Bear
After going down a storm on the other side of the Pond, we finally get the chance to binge on all eight episodes of this clever and funny comedy drama. Jeremy Allen White plays Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto, a fine-dining chef who faces the mother of all culture shocks when he returns home to Chicago to run his family sandwich shop after the tragic death of his brother. The clashes with his strong-willed kitchen staff are hilarious. They’re also tempered by his emotionally strained family relationships.
Mr Harrigan’s Phone
Stephen King’s short story stars Jaeden Martell as Craig, a lonely young boy in a small town who befriends an older, reclusive billionaire played by Donald Sutherland. Their bond is shattered when the elderly man suddenly dies but, to his surprise, Craig is able to communicate with his friend beyond the grave thanks to a spooky mobile device. Now that’s what we call a “smart” phone. Sterling supporting cast includes Joe Tippett, Kirby HowellBaptiste and Thomas Francis Murphy.
Coyote
Michael Chiklis heads the cast as Ben Clemens, a gruff US Border Force patrol guard forced into retirement. He makes his way to a small coastal town in Mexico to finish work on his ex-partner’s fishing cabin, where he sees for himself the living conditions. However, Ben’s prickly attitude and outlook get a jolly good shake up after he crosses paths with a young woman who needs his help. Good support comes from Juan Pablo Raba, Juan Diego “El Catrin” Zamora, Adriana Paz and Octavio Pisano.
