Real scream for faithful fans

-

IF you were completely hooked on The Traitors, then this American version, which has been hidden away on iPlayer until now, is a must-watch.

It’s set in the same Scottish castle, with the same tasks, but ordinary people are mixed with vague celebrities from the States (none of whom UK viewers will recognise) and it’s hosted by actor Alan Cumming. While you may miss Claudia Winkleman and her fingerless-glove chic, Alan is an equally sardonic harbinger of doom and knows how to rock a tartan suit and beret.

For those who haven’t ever seen this latest reality format, it’s basically the Highlands Hunger Games, with paranoia, guilt, backstabbing and betrayal at every turn.

In the Gothic Christie-vibes setup, contestants must “murder” each other in the dead of night until someone, or some people, are left with a cash prize.

The players must collaborate to add money to the prize pot, up to a possible $250,000.

Three of them are secretly chosen as “traitors”, tasked with bumping off the “faithfuls”, who in turn must identify and banish the traitors.

There are traitors in hooded cloaks, a big stately castle, gonging clocks and, before long, everyone is having an existential meltdown.

Among the contestants are Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Brandi, Big Brother’s Cody, Stephenie from Survivor and Reza from Shahs of Sunset, alongside a yoga teacher, a hairdresser and a political analyst.

But it does not actually matter who they are and what they do... no one can be trusted, everyone is easily manipulated, and it is all completely savage.
