BOSS: MCGREGOR IS A ONE-OFF AT THE 400 MARK

-

ANGE POSTECOGLOU reckons Callum McGregor is a rarity these days as he approaches 400 appearances for Celtic.

The Parkhead skipper can hit the landmark in Sunday’s trip to face Dundee United at Tannadice.

Postecoglou reckons his captain offers huge inspiration to colleagues as he said: “you can’t understate Callum’s influence on and off the park. “Firstly on the park with his performances. He hits an unbelievable level of consistency and excellence whilst probably playing more than anyone else. “And his influence in and

around the group is outstanding. Great credit to him.

“You don’t see it too often these days – somebody commit himself to one club and the 400 appearances.”

Speaking to Celtic’s own TV channel, Postecoglou smiled and quipped: “He’s halfway there. I’m thinking of 800 for him by the time he’s finished, so we’ll see how it goes!”

The manager will take his team to the Tayside venue with fresh memories of successful times.

Celtic clinched last season’s title with a 1-1 draw at Tannadice and scored nine goals on their previous Premiership visit.

But Postecoglou said: “They are probably one of the clubs whose results don’t reflect their performances. They have been well in games and the results haven’t always fallen their way and they have improved.”
