Woman posed as online sex worker to blackmail married men

- BY GORDON CURRIE reporters@dailyrecord.co.uk

A WOMAN created an online profile as a prostitute so she could lure married clients and blackmail them into sending her cash.

Lauren Hunt, 24, threatened to expose the men to friends and family if they didn’t pay up.

When they tried to block her online, she created new profiles to continue targeting them for ransom money.

Two of her three victims were so scared of being outed that they allowed her to empty their bank accounts, a court heard.

Hunt, of St Nicholas Place, Dundee, – placed her details on Dundee Craigslist offering 15-minute sex sessions.

She admitted extorting £716.81 from a man known only as MM between September 12 and October 17, 2020.

The court heard how he had replied to her advert but later changed his mind and cancelled their meeting.

But she said he had wasted her time and sent him her bank details with demands for reimbursement. He blocked her number but she later resurfaced on Facebook using different aliases.

Joanne Ritchie, prosecuting, said: “Messages stated he needed to learn a lesson... He was sent screenshots of his family Facebook accounts and the user began liking old posts on his timeline.

“She asked for more money and stated if he did not comply she would send messages to his family informing them he was trying to solicit the services of a prostitute.” He eventually called police. Hunt also pleaded guilty at Dundee Sheriff Court to extorting £50.59 from a man known as LC by the same means in August 2020.

She admitted a third charge of blackmailing a man, identified as JS, between November 20, 2020, and January 12, 2021.

She had met him through the Kik app and he described his sex fantasies to her. By the time Hunt produced a newspaper article featuring JS to show she knew who he was, he had already handed over £650. He contacted police.

Sheriff Paul Brown deferred sentence for reports and her bail was continued.

She told him he needed to learn a lesson
