MARV STEPS TO THE FOUR

-

QUEEN OF THE SOUTH boss Marvin Bartley is relishing tonight’s SPFL Trust Trophy semi-final even if he admits he’s done nothing to seal his side’s run to the final four.

The former Livingston midfielder only took charge of the Doonhamers last month after leaving his coaching role at the Lions in December.

It’s been a whirlwind start in Dumfries for the brand new boss, taking his first steps in management, but he’s more than happy to take all the glory if he can turn Queens’ last four spot into a showpiece spot.

The 36-year-old, who also spent four years at Hibs, said: “It’s not bad given I’ve done nothing to get us there!

“It’s going to be a brilliant game for everybody, and it is live on the TV as well.

“Being a manager for a month and having a semifinal, it doesn’t come much better than that.

“Hamilton will obviously be the favourites, it is at their stadium and they’re in the league above but as like in all games, we will have a plan that we will go and try to execute that hopefully will help us come out victorious on the night.

“You don’t often get to play in semi-finals or finals, so it’s important we give a good account of ourselves.”

Accies gaffer John Rankin credits their January signings for their recent upturn in form

He said: “We’ve brought in some new signings who have made a big difference to us already. They’ve helped change the quality and mentality in the group.”

Accies miss Lewis Spence, Jamie Hamilton, Steve Lawson and Reegan Mimnaugh while Queens’ Jaze Kabia, Jack Brydon and Cammy Logan are out.
