Time we go Doonhamer and tongs

-

CALLUMN MORRISON has pleaded with his Falkirk team-mates not to let their heads drop after suffering a cup hangover in Dumfries.

The Bairns were dreadful in the first half at Palmerston and paid the price when Coll Donaldson bundled into his own net just before the break.

John McGlynn’s men did show some fightback – similar to their heroic Scottish Cup comeback victory against Ayr – but couldn’t find a leveller.

Morrison aired his frustration that they couldn’t bridge the gap with leaders Dunfermline who also dropped points.

He said: “We’re really disappointed, especially after Monday night. We were on such a high but we can’t let this result get to us too much, we’ve got to pick ourselves back up.

“They came out the traps fast and didn’t deal with that well enough. We created a few chances but nothing was going for us.

“It’s frustrating every time we drop points. We can’t let that get to us.

“We’ve got the semifinal so we’ve got to get our momentum back.”

Doonhamers defender Paul McKay was delighted to finally pick up a victory against the top two.

He said: “That’s been hanging over us all season. We knew we had it in our locker, we’ve got enough talent to be competing.”

Calum Gallagher bagged a first career hat-trick in Airdrie’s 7-0 thumping of bottom side Peterhead.

Gabby McGill’s first-half double and strikes from Craig Watson plus Adam Frizzell sealed the win.

Gallagher said: “It’s been

a monkey on the back for a while – and Gabby getting his last week has given me all the motivation I needed.

“I was delighted to get it and shake that off.”

Dunfermline extended their lead despite drawing 0-0 with Edinburgh.

Montrose left it late to come from behind and beat Kelty Hearts 2-1 at New Central Park.

Jamie Barjonas hit a first-minute opener before Montrose’s Rory McAllister had a penalty saved.

Michael Gardyne pulled Mo level nine minutes from time before Brazilian sub Matheus Machado came off the bench to snatch it.

Ross MacIver, Murray Miller and Conor Sammon helped Alloa jump to third with their 3-1 win at home to Clyde, who had Liam Scullion on target.
