My Colts will not give up

-

CUMBERNAULD boss David Proctor praised his side for the consistency which has kept them in the title race.

Although 10 points behind leaders East Kilbride Proctor says his Colts will continued their fight until the final day.

He says the second-half performance against Bo’ness United merited the 2-1 win and all three points.

Proctor said: “We’re not having a brilliant week and then an off-week, and we tend to know what we’re going to get from the boys now and the level of consistency has come through all the hard work they put in.

“We had a strong finish to last season and it was something we wanted to continue and keep as many of the boys as possible.

“We’ve only had a couple of good players coming into the club this season and they’ve fitted in well.

“We’ll keep going and chipping away and we’ll not give up. In addition we’re still in two cup competitions as well as second in the league.”

Kai Kirkpatrick shot Colts into a 57th-minute lead and Zak McKay doubled their tally seven minutes from time. Ryan Porteous pulled one back for the BU with an 88th-minute penalty.

Ex-Kelty Hearts winger Kallum Higginbotham smashed home a hat-trick to help Tranent to a 3-1 win over Gretna 2008.

He struck twice in the first 20 minutes and went on to complete his hat-trick, against a struggling Raydale Park side who had to play 70 minutes with 10 men after Dean Brotherston was sent off in the 20th minute for a deliberate hand ball.

Alfie Robson got an 84thminute consolation header.

East Kilbride stay 10 clear but had to work hard for a 2-1 win over Cowdenbeath who went ahead in nine minutes through Ewan MacPherson.

Kilby got the equaliser four minutes before the interval when Aaron Arnott drove the ball home. Then a minute before the interval the Blue Brazil went down to 10 men when MacPherson was shown a straight red.

Kilby still found it hard and it was only a goal from Tiwi Daramola in the 61st minute that separated the sides.

Linlithgow Rose got the biggest win of the day when they smashed in five second half goals to beat bottom side Edinburgh Uni 5-1.
